Tuesday was a lazy day in camp. After the long hike on Monday, it was time to do email, have lunch and sit around and do nothing very much. We attended the Ranger presentation by Dr Ann Mattson and she talked about geology, climbing and the history of the park. As always, the presentation was quite excellant. I was however enourmously saddened to learn of the passing on one of my oldest and best friends. PC Clifford Wakely (of the London Metropolitan Constabulary) passed away on Saturday August 1, 2009 at the age of 70. Cliff and I were Scout Leaders in the 4th Frimley Scout Group in Surrey, England for 15 years. I've enjoyed many summer camps and weekends with Cliff and hold him at the top of my list of wonderful people. I'm sure all the 100s of boys who passed through Silver Troop when Cliff was "Skip" will remember him with love and affection. My condolances go to his wife Rita and his children Guy and Victoria. A Scout who can say "I have done my best". I'll never forget you, Cliff. Lightbox click here - 876 kBytes download | ||||
