Peak District

Olympics (9 of of 14 ):

We had a nice day out in Peak District National Park, Derbyshire. National Parks are a new concept in the UK. They are areas of outstanding natural beauty and include areas such as Loch Lomond and Cairngorm in Scotland, The Yorkshire Moors, The New Forest in Dorset/Hampshire and Snowdonia in Wales. I believe there are about 12-15 designated areas. Unlike the National Parks of the United States, there are towns and villages within the parks - however they are all areas of low population and wide open spaces.

We went to Castleton. There's a 11th Century Castle on a hill above the village. Beautiful views from the ramparts and keep. We enjoyed a little walk around the village and lunch in The Rose Tea Room. Afterwards we had a drive in the hills and admired the scenery.

When we got back to Sheffield, I ran 5 miles along the River Don and around Hillsborough Stadium and Park. I really enjoyed the run and pleased to run easily inside a 9 minute pace, so I'm starting to recover from a rib injury when I slipped and fell in Jamie's bath last week.
