Perceptions - April 1, 2012

Our Indian friends Then and Navanee invited us to a concert in Woodside. I worked with Then at Novariant and her boss is Dennis. Dennis and Terri also came to the show. Then's parents are visiting the United States for the first time and came with us.

The concert was called Perceptions. The purpose of the show was to raise money and awareness for education in India. The concert was a superb blend of dance, music and sets illustrating life and culture in the sub-continent. The color and lighting were really great. A huge effort by hundreds of volunteers was rewarded by selling out the theatre for all 3 performances. Good Job, everybody.

After the concert we went to an Indian restaurant in Sunnyvale for dinner. A very nice afternoon - thank you Then and Navanee for inviting us.

A national cause of concern in the United States is the poor performance of American High Schools. Woodside High is an exception which provides world class facilities and eduction. The school was singled out in the movie "Waiting for Superman" in 2010 as an example to be copied and emulated throughout the nation. Since seeing the movie I've wanted to take a look at the establishment. The facilities in the School Stadium and Theatre are very good indeed. I was very impressed.
