Queenstown, New Zealand
Queenstown in the most famous vacation resort in South Island. The location is stunning on the shores of Lake Wakaitipu. The Lake is L shaped with the resort is at the heal. Both arms of the L are about 20km. Additionally, there is an arm at the heal. We have a very nice room with a Lake View.
There's a lot to do here if you're willing to spend lots of money on adventures such as Helicopters, Jet Boats, Bungy Jumping and so on. There's a steam ship on the lake. There's an ice arena and skiing in Winter. Lots of shops and bars.
The disused railway has been converted into a trail. Alison and I had a nice lakeside walk from our hotel to town and back. Very beautiful. Very windy.
On the plane from Melbourne to Christchurch, the guy in the next seat recommended that we go to Arrowtown Bakery for a pie. Arrowtown is a little gold mining village that's full of expensive little shops. Very good pie and great value.
We visited the "Home of the Bungy" at Kawarau. We easily resisted this quick way to spend $195!
