Our friend Tom K from Striders (and a coach with San Jose Fit) has been enduring chemotherapy since August. He's done many Marathons and Ultras over the years and wanted to do SVM (Number 11). I think he's run all previous 10. So he's been doing a mile a day for the last few weeks. And that left 5 miles to be tackled on Sunday October 26, 2008 - event day.

Almost 100 of his friends turned up to walk with him over the final 5 miles of the course. Just Great. Tom was in very good spirits and I thought he looked fine. Let's hope for a successful outcome to his treatment. Get Well Soon, Tom. You're an inspiration to us all.

And coming up....

We're looking forward to several things. Seattle for Thankgiving which is always fun. The Holidays (Christmas and New Year) - haven't made a plan yet. And 2009!

Despite the awfulness of the mess in the financial markets, I'm rather optimistic about the future. I'm delighted that my running buddy Dennis invited me to work for his company for 3 months. It's been really good and I've enjoyed being back at work. I'm going to look for more contract work in the New Year, and looking forward to the challenges.

We're planning a vaction in 2009 with the 'holiday gang' to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, Wyoming. Ali and I would also like to visit Zion National Park, Utah. This won't increase our state count, so a trip in the fall to Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri will be considered to complete all 50 states.
