The Prime Minister
10 Downing Street

Prime Minister:

I was brought up in Scotland and educated at the University of Glasgow. I've been living and working in Silicon Valley, California for the last 12 years. I became a US Citizen last year. My family (children and grandchildren) live in Camberley, Surrey.

Congratulations to everybody involved in London 2012. I went to England for the Games and was thrilled by Team GB and delighted by the organization, facilities and welcome provided by the people of GB to the World. Britain at its Best.

I returned to the States on Sunday and put on the TV to watch the Marathon. The NBC broadcast (punctuated continuously with "messages") was a shock. We missed the BBC's offerings which we had enjoyed during the previous 16 days. NBC's coverage of the closing ceremony was just as disappointing.

I understand from conversations with my family in England that the BBC is facing life threatening challenges. The BBC is to broadcasting as Team GB is to sport. To inspire a generation requires communication. The BBC is the delivery system for inspiration. The recent shambles involving News International clearly shows that when publishing is left entirely to the free market, anything that makes money is published - even if it's illegal.

I implore you Prime Minister to find a way to enable the BBC to exist into the future and to carry the torch of Great Broadcasting to Rio and beyond.

My sincere respect and admiration to everybody who showed the world that Britain is Great.

I received this very nice reply from The Government in London: click here

I am delighted to be in England for the London 2012 Olympic Games. This is a unique moment for everybody in Team GB - the Athletes, the Organisers, the public and everybody around the world. It's a thrill to be here.

In addition to watching a lot of Olympics on Jamie's 54" 3-D HD TV, we've also been lots of times to the swing park with the Grandkids. We've made trips to Italy, Cambridge, Norwich, Yorkshire and Bedford to visit friends. Jamie had tickets to the Basketball in the Olympic Park.
