Hadrians Wall

Hadrians Wall

We had a very nice trip to Hadrian's Wall and were very impressed. It must have been a huge undertaking to build this. There were thousands of soldiers in the forts for about 300 years. Incredible effort. Today it's an interesting tourist attraction. We walked 3 miles from Steel Rigg to Housesteads Fort and got the bus back. Highly recommended. Beautiful Walk.

The trip was a "mini vacation" (5 nights). We went to visit a friend in the Lake District on Monday and drove to Hadrian's Wall on Tuesday. We had 2 nights B&B in Allendale. On the way home, we visited friends in Rutland for two nights. Home on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to our friends for their hospitality. We hope you'll visit us soon in Camberley.

The "bucket list" has several major projects. Two projects have consumed the first three years of retirement. We sold up in California and moved to England where we have renovated and remodelled our house. I've made 2 major releases of the Exiv2 open-source project. We hope to have many more "mini vacations" to explore the UK. Remarkably, we know the United States much better than the United Kingdom. We're very happy to have started exploring our own country.
