Weather: Bright, overcast day with long leaden clouds. Beautiful views all round from our bedroom window. Up at 7 AM for a continental breakfast then off to a Sunday market at nearby Candelo with Brigitte. Reiner the sailor stays to check out his newly acquired yacht.
Usual fare at the market. I buy “God of Small Things” – a book I’ve heard about. The countryside is hilly, green with a background of the coastal range. Fat cows dot the landscape. Very easy on the eyes.
Minestrone with lots of Parmesan cheese is served for lunch. Lovely! I take a nap and wake up to Brigitte’s announcement that she has crashed into our car. I think it’s a joke until I inspect a small hole in the rear passenger skirt. She has backed her tow bar into our bumper. She feels bad about it and we kid around about it for the rest of the day.
At 2 PM the four of us explore the coast around Pambula by car and by foot. Ruth and I spy a butcherbird for the first time.
Brigitte presents Chicken Cacciatore for dinner. Great fare! Great day. Great hosts. We are blessed to know such warm, generous people.
In bed by 9 PM.
