I send this SMS message to Noel, Brad, Rex and John: “Rain, rain, rain and more rain” and get some smartarse messages back. The clouds are dropping their load. Fortunately this place is equipped to entertain us. First we watch “Shaggy Dog” on in house movies and enjoy this mindless comedy. Then we run across the road and take a superb coffee at Karadonis Kitchen. Smells so good in here we book in for dinner.
Picking up our complementary theatre tickets we select to see “Ten Canoes”. A brilliant film with an all Koori cast and story. No real start, open-ended finish – the film stays with us. The theatre and the complex is a shabby labyrinth of primary coloured timbers and drapes. A throwback to the 60’s I would say. One can smell a certain – hem, hem, - “incense”.
Samantha and Trixie (really) are our masseuses at 4PM. They give us thorough towelling. Ruth and I float out of the scented, towel packed, mood musiked, delightful gloom to drape ourselves over the bar. Ruth’s complimentary choice is champagne while I sip a vodka. Ahhh, I love a good deal.
As expected the dinner at Karadonis Kitchen is Greek with unwatered down flavours. We devour a plate of olives, feta, prawns, white bait, calamaris, flake and meatballs with visceral glee. Lovely. We’re in bed by 10PM after champagne, a loss at pokies and a spa.
