Photographs 2002

2002 was a most exceptional year. This is because I succeeded in dieting as never before. It was a life changing event. Remarkably, I hardly bothered to take any photographs during the diet. I guess I was too busy walking about 4 hours per day to bother about photographs. Anyway, if you compare the photos in July and October you'll get the idea of how good it looks to loose 50 pounds. From fat to athlete in 13 weeks - I can't believe I did it.

To celebrate the end of the diet, we had a party at Adobe. Alan came from England and we went down the coast to Hearst Castle. It was really great - one of the best weekends of my life. Thanks Alan for coming. As Alan put it when he saw me "Bloody hell". Jamie's reaction was "Where's my Dad?".

We enjoyed a visit in the spring from our friend Elisabeth in Camberley. In June Gaylord had a 40 years since graduation party. And we went for summer holidays to Largs, Finland and Camberley. It was on the plane going back to the USA in July that I decided "I'm gonna diet, I don't want to be overweight, I'm gonna do something about this".

I purchased a Sony Cybershot DSC-S85 Digital Camera in March 2002 and I love it - it's a 4mb device and easy to use. I liked the camera so much I decided to spend some money on a digital SLR and I purchased a Canon Rebel EOS Digital Rebel 6mb SLR in September 2003 - just fantastic! I've had a lot of fun writing some desktop software to manage the photographs - including the web photo publisher used on this site. I'm indebted to my friend Veli-Veikko Niskanen in Finland for the stylesheet and gif's used to display the photographs.
