You're not going to believe this! Digital camera number 5. They just keep getting better and cheaper. It's really good - almost as good as the Canon S5-IS we purchased last year. It's a Canon A-1000 IS - 10mb with an image stabilizer and 4x optical zoom. It's lightweight and fits easily in your hand or pocket. It feels solidly built and I hope it'll last a few years. I'll use it for taking photos when walking and running on trails.
The Sony S600 which I purchased in 2006 died of old age. It took about 5000 photos for $200.00 - 4¢ each. Amazing value. I wore it out. The motorized lens cover gave up after a while and now the lens won't move although the motor whirs. I think there's grit jamming the lens from moving forward. RIP - a good friend!
