San Juan Buatista 10 mile - January 30, 2010

The Mission at San Juan Bautista is a rather beautiful location. Ali and I often stop off there for lunch and usually take visitors from Europe.

They have a 10 mile race at the end of January - it's the first event of the year usually for me. I've run it twice before. In 2004, I did 80 minutes and 88 in 2005. I was 93 today. It took a lot more effort today than a few years back. Age is slowing me down.

However, I'm proud to have done that. I was on level 9 minute miles when I came through mile 8 in 72 minutes - and feeling great. Then I 'hit the wall' and had to walk 3 times between 8 and 9. However I got underway again and puffed up the slope of the final mile into the village. I guess the thought of the milkshake in JJs Burger Bar got me over the finish line.
